Magma motion in volcanic conduits with phase transitions. Dynamics of explosive and extrusive eruptions, instabilities in volcanic flows.
I develop hierarchy of mathematical models of multiphase flows in volcanic conduit for different regimes of the eruptions. Studies show complex system behaviour with sudden regime transitions with monotonic changes in governing parameters. That leads to understanding of hazards associated with volcanic eruptions and difficulties of their predictions.

Principal results of my studies are summarized in lecture notes available online.
